As some of you may know, my life as a blogger began with a blog called Inside A College Closet and as much as I thought I would love posting my outfits and writing about them, I realized I had a lot more important things to talk about than what I was wearing that day. I was constantly bored with the content and avoided writing on it at almost all cost. So with that (and the extra push of a class assignment) I decided to start A College Kids Perspective (aka what you're reading now).
This broader theme opened the door for me to talk about and share whatever was on my mind, whether it be fashion and beauty, or current events and personal opinions. With that being said, this post is my official farewell to Inside A College Closet (it wasn't the blog, it was me) but that doesn't mean the idea behind it is completely dead. I will still be posting fashion and beauty tips on this account, just click the category "Inside a College Closet" on the side bar to check them out!

Without further adieu, Screaming Color:
My inspiration for Screaming Color was simple: Taylor Swift lyrics. You're probably thinking I'm joking, but no, my inspiration seriously came from something as simple as a pop song. That's the cool thing about inspiration, it can hit you anywhere, anytime and be caused by anything. Say what you want about her, but there is no denying, Taylor Swift has a knack for writing catchy hooks, and one lyric in particular has stuck with me since the release of 1989, earlier this year: "the rest of the world was black and white, but we were in screaming color". The imagery of screaming colors fascinated me and continues to just sound super cool.
For this shoot I styled my friend Rashel in a tattered plain white T ($5 at Forever 21, can I get a heck yeah?), dark wash skinny jeans and black booties (currently $12 at one of my favorite places on the planet, Target). Her outfit symbolizes the first half of the lyric "the rest of the world was black and white".
Rashels makeup stood as the second half of the lyric, "we were in screaming color". Using matte brown eye shadows and a simple flicked liner, I kept her eye makeup simple to draw attention to the "screaming colors" across her face. I used lots of scotch tape to keep the edges straight (and because my artistic freehand game is weak), filled in the line with a cream shadow primer and then went crazy with a neon eye shadow pallet (and continually mumbled "Roy G. Biv" to remind myself which color was next). I finished the look with a rose pink lipstick.
After much teasing and hair spraying, (I teased and hair sprayed some more) I pinned back the sides of Rashel's hair for a sleek, edgy style. This would've been cooler if she would've been open to me dying her hair blue, but understandably she said no.
Big thanks to Rashel for allowing me to style her head-to-toe as the human version of a line from TSwizzles song Out of the Woods, and helping me bring my artistic visions to life.
